The Things One Learns...

I've decided to quit smoking... Purely an economical thing at first, but now that I'm easing away from my dependence on nicotine I'm realizing that this may have been the best choice I have ever made in my life. The madness which is smoking tobacco is fading away... No more are my day to day routines being dictated by my addiction. I have smoked for more than half of my life, so naturally I have forgotten what life is like without this monkey on my back... I am still in the early stages of withdraw, but excited none-the-less!

Here are some factoids that I found interesting whilst coming off the drug...

1. Nicotine is found in the "Nightshade" family of plants, which is under the genus "Solanum", which is also the name of the virus that causes mass zombie outbreaks wherever the infection begins...

2. Europe did not get their first taste of tobacco until 1518.

3. Nicotine was first isolated from the tobacco plant in 1828 by German chemists who classified it as a poison.

4. It would take 95.1mg of Cocaine to kill a mouse, where as it only takes 3mg of nicotine to do the same thing...

5. Many studies claim that nicotine is more addictive than heroin or cocaine.
