The Underground

The event that started it all... "The Underground"
19 years ago in the dark halls of the Dundalk YMCA a youth concert was organized with the hope that it could bring young teens to a safe environment while also providing the means for aspiring artists to showcase their talents. On that cold evening in December 1994 two local groups (Elmer & Exit 39) provided the entertainment to a small, but intimate crowd. The event went off without a hitch, and with it a hunger was born... not just for the budding "rock-stars", but for the organizers, as well as, the audience. The Southeast Baltimore community had never held an event that was catered to the new generation of D-I-Y artists and fans who were too young to go to bars, and too old for school dances, so it was only natural that word spread fast. By the next month the 2nd concert that was organized brought over 200 attendees from all over the Baltimore Metropolitan area, and as they say the rest is history...
19 years later... A new location, A new generation, but the same mission...
